Out of Hours

When the surgery is closed (Out of Hours Service):

NHS Havering (Formerly Havering PCT) have contracted with the Partnership of East London (PELC) to provide out of hours services in the London Borough of Havering. Local doctors working from the Out of Hours Centre based at Queens Hospital undertake night, weekend and bank holiday cover.

For health information and advice you may contact NHS on 111. This is a 24 hour advice line and referrals and may be a useful source of information and help and should be considered before visiting A&E.

Alternatively, when the surgery is closed patients can visit one of the Walk In Centres based in Dagenham, Barking and Harold Wood.

- The Harold Wood GP Walk in Centre, St Clements Avenue, Gubbins Lane, Harold Wood RM3 0FE, is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. It is not possible to pre-book an appointment.

- The Broad Street Medical Centre, Morland Road, Dagenham RM10 9HU is open Monday to Friday 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. at weekends and bank holidays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Upney Lane Clinic based in Barking Hospital, Upney Lane, Barking is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. You can book an appointment directly for one of these two sites by calling 020-3770 1888.

- Havering Hub is open from 6.30 pm to 10.00 pm on weekdays and 8.00 am to 8.00 pm on Saturday and Sunday. Patients registered with a Havering GP can be seen at North Street Medical Care, 274 North Street, Romford, Essex RM1 4QJ and Rosewood Medical Practice, 30 Astra Close, Hornchurch, Essex RM12 5NJ. You can book an appointment directly for one of these two sites by calling 020-3770 1888 between 2.00 pm and 9.00 pm on weekdays and between 9.00 am and 6.00 pm on Saturdays and Sundays.

If you need a doctor IN AN EMERGENCY then telephone the surgery on 01708 343113 and listen to the instructions given for contacting the duty doctor. The doctor may wish to speak with you and may advise you to attend the Out of Hours Centre.

Home visits are not usually necessary and are not available for transportation problems. Recent surveys have shown that a lot of 'out of hours' calls could wait until the surgery is open again the next day, and so please only use this service for real emergencies.

On Wednesday and Thursday afternoons we do not offer emergency appointments. Doctors working from the Out of Hours Centre will manage genuine emergencies. Please contact them after 1 pm on 0845 075 0496.

NHS Direct

In the case of urgent need when the practice is closed you can call NHS 111 (telephone 111) to speak to a triage nurse. Your needs will be assessed and advice offered or arrangements made for you to see a doctor.

Please do not ask to see a doctor out of hours unless you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.

Call 999 in an emergency. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.
