Mixed gardening is a great way to establish your pawpaw trees and accelerate their growth while you grow your summer vegetables, and it requires very little additional cost or effort. That's what I like about it.
Plant your pawpaw trees in with the rest of your vegetable-garden then water, fertilize, and weed everything together. The pawpaw-tree shown below (in center of photograph) grew to 3 meters (9 feet) in height one year after the picture was taken (in 2013). It was mixed in with a row of okra bushes.
