Edgemont had several clubs.
1. James B Wilson Lodge#917: Nov 1929 to
The Wilson Lodge split from the Unity Lodge #71, and it was located in Edgemont on Highland Ave next to the 1st Firehouse station.
2. Edgemont Roosevelt Club 1932
3. The Trails End Hotel 1948
Locust Lane and State Farm Road (Owned M L Lester)
Mrs Lester started building in June 1948 and moved in on June 1949. It was originally an eighteen room hotel, restaurant and bar.
The politicians kept her in court for ten years before I got the first club license. They said that we were at the back door of the state hospital and that all a patient had to do was come through the back door and get drunk.
The"Buffalo Post" was a black veteran organization. They got got her a liquor license to sell drinks only to members of her club.
The Trails End went out of business in November 1981. Her daughter did not want any part of it, due to being court for eleven years took a thrill from the family.
