The Broughton Personal Care Home for Veterans

Mr and Mrs Broughton moved to Edgemont in 1956 and started the ideal of the Veteran Home in 1960's.  Mrs Broughton started on her own with the support of her husband.  There were great many problems with starting a business with no money.  They were turned down from getting a loan by four banks.  They eventually succeeded in convincing someone to loan them the capital to start the home.  

When they started they really did not know what to call their business, due no other facility that fit into what they were doing with the veterans.  When they met Dr Robert Scott who worked at the VA Hospital who helped them get referrals.  

In 1980 the state decided to use their Veteran Home as Personal Care Facility
