M.P. At Speech Day
Dr. Rhodes Boyson MP was the guest speaker during the Royal Wolverhampton School’s annual speech day. Dr. Rhodes Boyson made the point that "Independent Schools can afford to retain standards unlike the total comprehensive system which has reduced academic standards."
He said that this was made clear by London University having to accept a grade less in A level requirements from London comprehensive schools. He believed in choice for all parents and said "Those who believe in independent schools and change, must ensure the preservation of all people's chances".
It is because of this that he backs the provision of education vouchers to parents. He said that the Royal Wolverhampton School would be a "pilot light or a beacon for similar schools".
