Courts and other Club facilities
The OU tennis courts are locked and only OU Tennis Club members may book and use them (see Booking courts)
Using the courts
Appropriate footwear (tennis shoes or similar) should be worn at all times whilst on court. Dark soled trainers or ordinary shoes are not to be worn.
Nets should be lowered after play.
Court Etiquette
When playing, please observe the following etiquette:
Always bear in mind that other people using the courts may not be entirely comfortable if you wear clothing that might be thought more appropriate for the beach, such as women wearing a bikini top or men wearing shorts with no top.
Do not walk behind a court while play is in progress. Wait until the point has finished.
If you hold both tennis balls when serving do not throw the second ball behind you after successfully serving the first. Not only is it very distracting but the point can be claimed by the opposition.
Please try to refrain from hitting obviously ‘out’ balls back to the server. Where possible just return the serve into the net or catch the ball and retain it until the point has been played out. Do not return a non-playing ball unnecessarily hard.
Do not throw your racket or hit a tennis ball in anger.
Do not use abusive language on court.
