History

Since 2013, the Krabi Provincial Public Health Office has established an ethics committee to review human research procedures. However, it has not allocated resources such as office space, personnel, or funding for its operations. Presently, a single panel assesses over twenty protocols each year on behalf of the KBO EC. The principal committee comprises 17 members, with future intentions to include additional rotating members from local organizations demonstrating commitment and contributions. This expansion also extends to educational institutions within Health Region 11.

Despite this, the policy regarding the requirements for study ethical reviews has not yet been distributed to the Krabi Provincial Public Health Office. The Krabi Provincial Public Health Office's researchers will conduct high-quality research by adhering to strict ethical review procedures in accordance with international standards.

The ethical reviewing guidelines introduced numerous impacts on the researcher’s practice. The research projects that did not receive approval by the Krabi Provincial Public Health Office Ethics Committee would neither be recognized as their achievements for academic promotion nor be used for any assessment in a higher position.
