Wimbledon Ticket Ballot - Sunday 3rd April 12.30

The Club is usually allocated pairs of tickets for Wimbledon. There will be a club ballot for the tickets - ie. as last year, first out of the hat gets first choice of tickets.

Please email Geoff Birch if you wish to enter the club ballot (and are also a registered BTM member, have opted into the Wimbledon ballot by 19th Feb, and have paid your 2016 membership by 31st March).

Men's Tennis Evening

We are pleased to report that the Men’s Monday evening foursome which ran in 2014-15 has grown into a Men’s eightsome during the last (2015-16) winter. (Usually 8 as long as not too many of the chaps are ill, injured, or away!) This is run on a rota basis to ensure that we have multiples of 4 playing so that we can get “stuck in” during the session and not have to swap round too frequently or have to risk injury by sitting out on cold winter evenings. These sessions feed players into the Men’s & Mixed team squads; if anyone has thus far missed being on the rota and would like to be included, by all means contact Tom the rota guru on 015395 36324.

Some form of Men’s rota will continue during the summer, but may well be reduced to fit in with league match commitments – and may be switched to a different evening depending on the match schedule.

Clubhouse and Courts

Do you have the right tennis shoes?

Our courts are one of our most valuable assets - costing £90 per week. Wearing the right shoe for the court will increase the life of its surface. Here's some guidelines:

- Avoid taking mud on court by brushing your footwear at the entrance.

- Wear low tread depth and non-marking soles suitable for astro-turf. It is preferable to use footwear designed for tennis. Coloured soles should be non-marking - you can test them on the loose piece of astro-turf at the court entrance. A rugged tread will tear the fibres of the carpet. See examples below.

Court Hire & Booking - online booking working well

Courts can be booked through the 'Book a Court' link on the homepage of our website.

Visitors can also pay online by Paypal on the 'Payments' page or by cash at the honesty box on court. A confirmation email supplies the key code for the court key safe (by the court gate). There is a visitor charge of £15 for 2 hours.

Membership - reminder to renew by March 31st.

New Members - we are continuing our free trial membership for adults of 3 sessions for prospective new members; also a 'buddy' will ensure new members are welcomed and shown the ropes.

Renewals - reminder to those who are still playing but have not yet paid to renew by March 31st. You can renew online with our online payment system.
