Why Do I Have to Write Content and Language Objectives? "When we explicitly tell our students what the goals are for the day or class period, it's like giving them the target. What Does an ENL Teacher Do-Many still think that ENL is a support service, but ESL is not an intervention. It is an integral part of high quality Tier 1 Instruction. ESL is a stand-alone language development program. The ENL teacher has three main roles in school: 1. English Language Development (Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking) 2. Provide ELLs with Meaningful Access to Grade Level and Content Learning 3. Capacity Building-advocating and sharing ENL expertise with others
