I'm an avid reader of English yachting magazines and one of my favourite sections of Yachting Monthly's is dedicated to stories submitted by sailors of their own mistakes and embarrassing moments. We all have skeletons in the closet and many of these stories have a resonance with my own experience. In my own case I might as well own up to an incident last summer returning to port after dark when I noticed one of the channel marks seemed to be changing colour from red to green. I almost panicked until after watching the sequence closely and noticed the amber showing briefly. What I though was a buoy showing up against the shorline lights was in fact a traffic signal on Water Street. Confessions is a slim volume enlivened by Mike Peyton's wonderful illustrations. I bought my copy directly from Yachting Monthly but it may be available in some nautical bookstores.
