Manuel G. Imson
Mr. Imson is a career official of the Philippine Department of Labor and Employment.
He is now serving as Labor Attaché at the Philippine Mission to the United Nations and Other
International Organizations in Geneva, Switzerland with supervisory function over all Philippine
Labor Offices in Europe. Prior to his present assignment, he served as Deputy Minister of Labor
in the Philippines.
Mr. Imson is a Philippine migration expert. He is a pioneer in the overseas employment
program of the Philippines. He served in various capacities in this program for more than 30
years including as Acting Administrator of the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration
(POEA), as Deputy Administrator of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), as
Director of the International Labor Affairs Bureau in the Philippines, and as the Labor Attaché in
Washington, D.C. He headed delegations in various high-level bilateral and multilateral
meetings for the Philippines and has chaired or acted as resource person in many international
conferences on migration.
Mr. Imson is an economist. He took up his MBA from Ateneo de Manila University and
finished his Masters degree in International Business at the Johns Hopkins University in the
United States.
