1 James Harrington, eldest son, baptised at Upton 16 Jan 1610/1611; married Katherine Dayrell daughter of Sir Marmaduke Dayrell "late in life". His book which seemed to lampoon Cromwell was seized and then returned. He started a club for discussing issues of government, and for this was seized and place in confinement in the Tower. His sisters pleas and petitions were ignored by the king, parliament and the courts, until finally he was seized and transported to a tiny island. After being confined here some time, his mind became disturbed, and he was eventually granted a pardon. He died 11 Sep 1677 in London; of paralysis.
