1 Aldous Huxley, author
Aldous Leonard Huxley was born 26 Jul 1894 at Godalming, co Surrey; the third son of schoolmaster Leonard Huxley by his first wife Julia Arnold. Aldous elder brother Julian also became an author, was the first Director of UNESCO, and was knighted in 1958. The 1911 Census shows Aldous as a patient, this must be related to the eye ailment he suffered at this time which left him "practically blind for two to three years".
