I know no safe depositary of the ultimate powers of the society but the people themselves; and if we think them not enlightened enough to exercise their control with a wholesome discretion, the remedy is not to take it from them, but to inform their discretion by education.
—Thomas Jefferson to William C. Jarvis, 1820
I believe that teachers should have open access to as many resources as possible to help them be great teachers. I created this site as a way to share with other educators some of the curricula I have created over the past 7 years. I hope that educators and other interested parties will find this site useful and perhaps kindly offer feedback and ideas. No two classes or teachers are alike, my intention is not to have teachers apply these lessons as is but to adapt them to their own classroom. I have been working in the past five years at a school that has provided me with the opportunity to craft classes of my own design, without the impediment of testing or a fixed set of content. The selection of courses I have so far reflect the students I teach and the topics they have requested and expressed interest in over the years. Some of the courses have also grown out of workshops and seminars I have participated in through NEH, Gilder Lerhman, Facing History and so many more.
