Over the past seven years I have been teaching English, Social Studies and Special Education at the high school level. I have also held the position of department chair of the Social Studies department at my school for the past four years.
My passion as a teacher has been to develop project based curriculum that enables high school students to explore the world through time and place. My courses and units often have a thematic focus that helps guide student inquiry. I have also participated in a number of seminars over the years to further develop my content knowledge and curriculum building abilities.
I grew up in New Jersey and earned my Bachelors in Religion and a Certificate in Jewish and Middle East studies at Wesleyan University in Connecticut. After being accepted into the New York Teaching Fellows Program, I taught full time in Brooklyn, while earning a dual Masters in Special and General Education at Long Island University, Brooklyn Campus. I just came back from living and studying in Oaxaca, Mexico for over a month. I am currently living abroad in Switzerland, studying, offering lessons and taking advantage of the country's centrality in Europe to explore and learn more about the continent's cultures and histories. No worries! I will be returning to NYC in the spring.
This website was intended to help me organize curricular resources, previously developed and in current production, so that they can be more easily shared with teachers and students alike. Enjoy!
