Visa Information
The Secretary will be pleased to write an official invitation letter for an overseas participant. However, the responsibility of filing application is on the visa carrier. Participant carrying a P.R.C. passport will need extra procedures to process the application; therefore, it is essential for him/her to start the application at least two months before the expected arrival date. For detailed information and assistance, please contact the Secretary.
Climate
Taiwan is a sub-tropical island. September in Tainan is quite comfortable with average low and high temperatures of 23 and 33 degree Celsius, or 73 and 91 Fahrenheit. The temperatures differ greatly from morning to evening. Real-time weather can be obtained at the website of the Central Weather Bureau.

Time
Tainan operates on National Standard Time (NST). This can be calculated by adding 8 hours to Coordinated Universal Time (UTC).
Electricity
The voltage in Taiwan is 110V. Some hotels provide converters for people using electric appliances of different voltages.
Communications
Most areas have very good mobile phone reception and you can either hire a mobile phone on arrival or bring your own with you. Contact you telecommunications supplier for the best option during your visit.

Sales Tax
Sales tax is included in the marked price of the product. Most restaurants and hotels automatically add 10% service charge to your bill.
Tipping
Tipping is not a social custom in Taiwan; however, it is still customary to tip your porters at hotels and airports. You may tip your taxi driver for the assistance with the luggage or other services.
Currency
The currency of Taiwan is New Taiwan Dollar (NTD). Major credit cards are accepted in most stores.
Insurance
It is the responsibility of the participants to arrange proper insurance during the period of the conference.
