Joseph Davis Thekinen

Mr. Joseph Davis Thekinen Dual Degree 2009-2014, PhD in Mechanical Engg, Purdue University (2014-18)

He applied the Rayleigh-Ritz method to study hull-girder vibration, as opposed to the computationally demanding Finite Element Method. He studied both vertical vibration of closed-section tanker hulls, and coupled horizontal-torsional-warping vibration of open-section containership hulls. He also worked on floating airport response under aircraft landing loads. He won the best M.Tech project in April 2014.

Outdoor : Presented his work in MARTEC Oct 2012 in Malaysia, with partial institute funding. I presented his work at ACMFMS 2012 (IIT Delhi) and at OMAE2013 (Nantes, France, June 2013)
