The Importance of Practice...
Sometimes it takes me weeks to learn small simple portions of songs. But it is so worth it in the end. Because after months of working on the same song, it finally starts to sound good, and I can add it to my repertoire of songs I can play anytime anywhere. I experience "flow" when I play these songs, it brings me tremendous satisfaction. This is the feeling of starting to master a song. No longer sight-reading, no hesitation, no wrong notes, no awkward pauses, just smooth flow of music, from your heart to you fingers on the piano.
This brings me back to my point about practice. It takes hundreds of hours of practice to get sounding really good. I personally really enjoy the challenge. And I can't really see a better way to spend my time, then to practice at something that makes me better at something really cool. I love playing the piano, I love teaching piano, and I really enjoyed researching and learning piano to write my book. I highly encourage everyone to find their instrument and really learn it. It is one of the great joys of life.
This blog post I accompany with the word of the day: FLOW
Flow is the mental state of operation in which a person performing an activity is fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and enjoyment in the process of the activity. In essence, flow is characterized by complete absorption in what one does.

question of the day?
What activities do you participate in life that you achieve flow?
