As you may already know, you must earn 100 PSH Credits to graduate 1st Grade Beginner Piano School.
Earning Practice Study Hour credits is not hard, all you have to do is practice piano or do other piano related activities. Practice time starts to add up into what I call Total Cumulative Practice Study Hours (TCPSH). This is supposed to represent the total time that you have spent practicing and studying piano. There is no way around it, if you want to get better, you have to put in the practice and study time. It is best to be organized and consistent with your practice time. That is why I have devised this system that helps you keep tract of the time you put into practice. This is help you tremendously in the long run. Years from now, when you look back at when you first started, you will be amazed at how far you have come. So get started today and record all your practice hours in your journal or mblog to earn credit.
8 Ways to Earn PSH Credits
1. Practice Sessions . Earn 1 PSH credit for 4 “15 minute of focused piano practices” RRPS (Regular Routine Practice Sessions)
(Aim for a minimum 1 PSH each week).
Keep tract of practice times in your music journal or try a mblog (start a blog just for keeping tract of your practice hours)
Take notes specifically of your piano practice times, be sure to be specific about what you practiced, certain sections practiced of which song did you play?
Example: "Today I practiced measures 1-10 of Handel's Sarabande, playing one hand at a time and then both hands together."
Incorporate regular practice times into your schedule. Piano playing is now a part of you life. Only you decides how much time to commit to practicing. Just know that it takes a lot of practice, but the more you do it, the better it gets.
2. Earn ½ a PSH credit for 30 minute lessons
3. Earn 1 PSH credit for learning and mastering 10 Learning Objectives (the LOs). Each LO should be learned by heart and memorized
4. Watch Piano YouTube videos- Write down in your music journal what YouTube “how to” piano tutorials on current subject matter that you watched.
5. Listening to your favorite classical pieces. This is the easiest most fun way to earn PSH, Just note composer + song, plus a few other details about what you noticed in your mblog or journal to earn credit PSH Credit
Studying any piano sheet music song while listening to it professionally played.
6. Earn 1 PSH credit for each for each song you can play perfectly from start to finish. Must play exactly as the sheet music dictates, unless adding your own improvements and improvisational harmony.
7. Earn PSH time by surfing the web, check out any piano website. PSH credits earned = to amount of time spent studying and learning. Try to spend at least 30 minutes studying to earn 1/2 of PSH credit.
8. Coloring in Your Own Music- artistic and practical “Your “Music in Color - enter your best into the School Contest. Every students grades each other artistic musical color creations online at our school website.
ALL HOURS MUST BE RECORDED IN Journal or MBLOG TO GET CREDIT!
It is up to you to keep tract of your practice and study time. Remember integrity when logging hours.
