Shaping Young Minds

This week in class was So cool! We learned so many different examples of apps. It is nice to listen to everyone's opinions in class concerning which app they might use themselves to help shape young minds. We can all agree that some apps might work better than others and finding the free apps is always helpful. I like that most apps can be used in all age groups. I think that apps influence learning and make it fun for the students. Apps can also assist teachers in so many ways. It was a great lesson this week!

Too Loud Kids, is a similar example to the app my group discussed this week in class. The awesome concept of this app is it is free and you can change to many different pictures other than a kitten. The purpose of the app is to monitor the volume in your classroom. The kitten is happy if the volume is at a normal volume and the kitten will grow sad if the volume gets too loud. If the volume is very loud than a neat feature will look like the screen is shattered in pieces. There is a timer and it can also be projected on a big screen where all the students can see the screen. It is a very cool app that would be perfect for elementary school age children.

We were able to create our own Canvas course and this was so amazing and fun! I have used Canvas before as a student, but never given the option to create my own. For this assignment, we were to create our own course as a teacher. It was so fun to pretend I was creating my own course and imagine that one day soon I might be doing this for real! It was so easy to create the course and I was surprised it was not harder. I am sure it was easier since I have always used Canvas as a student. The system is very user friendly, there are so many options for change, and can see why Canvas is an asset to teachers and students.

As a teacher, I would want to always have a grade tab for my students. I think it is important to know the percentage of your grade at all times. It will help students not panic, worry, or have anxiety pertaining to their grades. I like that as a teacher there is an option to upload lectures. I feel that is important for online classes that do not meet in person. Overall, great assignment and great program.
