POETeers bring poems to life at Kirtland Elementary School Family Night, 10.25.2018
Ashley: I feel like the students and parents had an enjoyable time watching and interacting with us during out poems. I think that they had just as much fun as we all did....I think that acting out and making the poems come to life caught the students attention and made it very enjoyable for them
Alyssa: I loved the poetry night at KES. The audience seemed to really enjoy the performance and were very interactive with us throughout the performance. I loved
that we were able to include them in singing some of the songs and also helping us recreate one of the poems we did.
Keeshawna: I loved that we could bring the poems to life and make the audience laugh. Everyone seemed to be having a great time. It was very fun being Captain Hook and one of the generals. Once you get into character, its like you're a totally different person. I was able to get over my fear when i was performing.
Brittney: Seeing the smiles on the children's faces and everyone's laughter made the night even better. I think that acting out poetry makes it so much more interesting
and comical and it makes children want to actually read or listen to it more.
Madelyn: It was a great experience to see how the audience enjoyed the way that we brought the poems to life. It taught me to be able to love poetry a little more and know that it is not always boring. This helped me in knowing that I can make poetry fun and entertaining for not only kids but the entire community.
Mariah: I really like speaking and saying the title of poems and author. The audience was amazing and interacted with us. They had fun even though I messed up on a couple of lines. I had fun being narrator for the generals. I'm glad that I had the confidence to get up and perform in from of a crowd.
