These pictures are from a workshop hosted by ESW/MOSS and directed by Dr. Caroline Russell from Malcolm-Pirnie, an environmental engineering consulting firm. The focus of the workshop was to discover ways methods of water disinfection using chlorine. The students took water from a nearby creek and tested for the presence of bacteria. Chlorine was then added to several samples of water laden with bacteria, and the decline in active bacteria was observed over time using optical spectroscopy and an indicator solution.
