Introduction
We are aiming to design and build a small boat which can be used for rescue purposes in ponds, pools and lakes. The boat will be able to operate autonomously i.e. it can automatically plan its path and reach to the victim. GPS location of the victim can be given in case of large distance. From short range, the boat will be able to detect human at its own and reach there.
In this project an RC boat was hacked and made completely autonomous using Arduino Uno board, GPS and passive IR sensors.
Results
A pre-defined path is given to the boat. The boat moves on that path if it does not detect any human being on surface of water. However if it senses human, it relinquishes its path and moves to the human for rescue.
A pre-defined path is shown with arrows. White circle shows location of a human for this scenario, this position was not programmed in boat.
Actual path taken by the boat
This was achieved in project demonstration conducted at ground floor B Block where water was collected.
