Open Groups

MSB Open Discussion Groups are initiated and facilitated by MSB members at any level of practice. The only requirement to become a discussion group facilitator is a willingness to take on the responsibility to organizing and facilitating meetings in collaboration with the group participants. Contact us if you would like to become a facilitator.

Facilitator responsibilities include:

    • Coordinating the time, date, and location of meetings.

    • Coordinating the technology aspect of the meeting if the there is a conference call or video conferencing option.

    • Facilitating the discussion. The role of the facilitator is to keep the discussion moving, on topic, and fostering an environment of mutual respect.

    • Posting details about the meeting location, time, topics, etc. on this website.

    • Senior MSB students are available to periodically participate in discussion group meetings. It is the facilitator’s responsibility to contact a khenchung to schedule this if the group wishes to invite a senior student to attend a discussion group meeting.

DISCUSSION GROUP TOPICS

The topics for discussion are open and are to be determined by the group participants. The only constraint is that discussion group topics should be based on a teaching resource (books, audio recordings, notes taken during a program, etc.).

STARTING A DISCUSSION GROUP

The first step to starting a discussion group is to find somebody who is willing to be the group facilitaor. Once this is determined, details about the topics, location, dates, time, etc. will be posted on this website. Contact us if you would like to become a facilitator.
