Why? How would you feel if you came up with a new innovation in the cosmo field? What if someone else stole your idea and took credit? You don't want to steal! If you don't correctly cite both quotes and information you put in your own words, you are stealing from the author.
The works cited on the right is a corrected version of a submitted works cited.
When taking notes, be sure to keep track of which source each piece of info came from and get the info in your own words.
Below is a note matrix. It's a beautiful strategy because it can also become the body of your outline! You can move columns to reorganize if you wish! Just add a column for intro and one for conclusion.

The sandwich strategy helps your reader know where source info. begins and ends. It makes citation clear. What if Mrs. S found something in your paper that was so fascinating that she wants to learn more and include it in a lesson? Your citation (in the text of your paper) and the works cited entry make it easy to find your original source info so she can use it and cite it herself!
