These are additional assignments that students can participate in to further their own learning and interests, or can be completed to help improve their overall grade in science per trimester. Though these assignments DO NOT replace specified projects that are required each trimester, students may also consider these ADDITIONAL assignments on their own.
Textbook Website Assignments: This site provides additional information for each of the chapters in your textbook. The site has interactive activities, projects, games, and practice quizzes.

Study Puzzle: Printed results given to teacher = 5 points (ONE PER LESSON COVERED IN CLASS)
Interactive Journals: Printed and typed journal given to teacher = Up to 15 points
WebQuest Assignments: WebQuest are sites created by other teachers that focus on specific questions or tasks. Students will look for answers to these questions/tasks by traveling to the different links provided on the site.
(Assignments = 30 Extra Credit Points)
Write a 1-page reflection describing what you did and what you learned.
Make a presentation of what you learned to the class.
Some webquests require a product. Presentation is required but reflection is not.
Mousetrap Powered Car Assignment: (ONLY AVAILABLE FOR THIRD TRIMESTER) Students will participate in our distance contest as part of the Brightwood Science Festival and create a car of their own design that is powered by a single mousetrap. This event usually happens near the end of the school year or third trimester.
(Assignment = 100 Extra Credit Points)
Students must consider and provide their own materials/weight for their car to travel the greatest distance.
Car must be powered by a single mousetrap (standard size - NO RAT TRAPS) and meet all other criteria.
Car must participate in the distance contest during the Science Festival and tavel at least 1-foot.
