The Social Studies Progress Report

Basically, if your student is really paying attention to the in-class discussions, reading, demonstrations, and they are participating in projects and using their time wisely, they should have no problem with the grade they are earning in this subject. Early in the year the students are  really being taught how to answer questions (being fed large parts of the answers that they seek) so their grades should be quite fair. As we progress, students will be responsible for taking much more responsibility for their products/work.

In regards to redo-marked work, make sure that every assignment marked below a 70% (C-) is redone and returned to the class redo box. The crediting redo work can take up to ten school days to show up in Q. Any assignment that carries a blank score or a score of "0" indicates it has not been turned in yet or was done with such poor quality that no score was earned. Please encourage your student to either get their work turned in or pay greater attention to their studies. If they do not turn in the assignment, the score will eventually turn to an "F".

What is 4th Grade Social Studies?

Students in grade 4 study the development of California. Students learn about California, its regions, and its exact location on the Earth, mission system, the gold rush, California's statehood, and the  formation of government, to name just a little.

tenment, and the English traditions of self-government. They recognize that ours is a nation that has a constitution that derives its power from the people, that has gone through a revolution, that once sanctioned slavery, that experienced conflict over land with the original inhabitants, and that experienced a westward movement that took its people across the continent. Studying the cause, course, and consequences of the early explorations through the War for Independence and western expansion is central to students’ fundamental understanding of how the principles of the American republic form the basis of a pluralistic society in which individual rights are secured.
