Welcome to General and Honors/Gifted Biology. Our general biology program focuses on giving students the skills and knowledge needed to become scientifically literate, as well as grow as a curious and independent thinker. Our honors program takes this a step further, looking deeper into concepts with a higher degree of application of the scientific process. The image above represents several of the 20 amino acids that make us up, along with all other known life. These molecules are made of atoms of Carbon, Hydrogen, Nitrogen, Oxygen, and Phosphorus, and Sulfur. The only way these heavier elements are created is during the explosion of a star. Therefore, we have a deep connection with the universe. As Carl Sagan said "We are the universe attempting to understand itself".
