Big Issue: Support or Oppose

Directions: Read any of the Big Issue articles (pdf files below) then answer the following questions in complete sentences. You many do more than one article. 

Questions:

1.      (2pts) What is the title of the “Big Issue?”

2.      (3pts) List the authors and annotate which side they are on (support or oppose). Make sure you include the author’s title, political party, what committees they are on, and state.

3.      (5pts) In one concise paragraph (3-4 sentences), summarize the overall main issue.

4.      (5pts) In 1-2 paragraphs summarize each side’s position (support and oppose).

5.      (5pts) What do you think…what is your position? Explain and support your position (1 para, 3-4 sentences).

Extra Extra Credit: For 10pts more, do the following:

6.      (10pts) Write a one-page business letter to one of your three Congressmen explaining the issue and asking them to support your position. Note: you must research who your Congressional representatives are (see Write the Rep Project or Mr. Achs for help)
