1. Introduction: Civic virtue is putting the common good before your personal interests. Many times we forget our citizen responsibilities. One of those responsibilities is civic virtue. Civic virtue causes people to fully participate in their government. Democracy is not a spectator sport, it requires our active participation. This concept is derived from Classical Republicanism (Ancient Greek Culture). Our founding fathers admired this and thought Americans should emulate this. Hence, civic virtue is one of our fundamental principles in which our country was built on. This service learning project is doing civic virtue.
2. Students must perform two hours of service learning (community service), this term, and document their actions on the prescribed form. Possible community service actions include tutoring elementary students, picking up trash along a highway, visiting a nursing home, or helping any community organization (Red Cross, YMCA, Boy Scouts, nursing home, helping clean our school, etc.). 3. Activity must be pre-approved. If Mr. Achs doesn’t approve it before hand the project will not count!
4. Students must print out the verification sheet or copy it. (Do Not Google Share).
5. This EL Project is due anytime during the term but must be turned in at least 3 DAYS BEFORE FINALS!
