Since 2007 the FOMF have been working on the protection of the Tarn Shelf at Mount Field National Park

Some side pads and braided areas were closed and some were actively rehabilitated by laying hessian. Particular locations were recorded with a GPS and photos taken so that comparisons can be made to see the rehabilitation progress.

On the Mount Field East Track from Lake Fenton some waypoints were established in 2009 on the saddle prior to the small descent to Windy Moor. A series of damaged ground over Windy Moor was created in December 2016.
