Cloudy with a Chance of Ducks

Our first show in the newly rebuilt minigallery is from 11 year old Erin Sherry.  It's a multimedia installation featuring ducks. We hope you enjoy her work and feel inspired to create some artwork of your own. If you enjoy ducks, be sure to check out our friends @sidewalk ducks and @tinyduckhunt

The Sorbet Miniverse

Local artist, Amirah Chatman created this multimedia installation for our February show. Her work features chalk pastel and felted wool. It looks even more ethereal in person, so be sure to stop by and see it for yourself. Please check out her other work @bottled.star

Mini Ceramic Village

Our March show features an idyllic village nestled in mossy hills. Created by local ceramic artist, Michelle Brionse, it is full of meticulous detail. You may be familiar with her gorgeous mugs and functional work, but she also enjoys miniatures and sculptural work. Visit her website www.brionesmade.com or follow her on instagram @briones.made

Week of the Young Child

We partnered with Blueberry Hill Daycare for the month of April to highlight Week of the Young Child. This display shows ways to engage young children in creative process. The mini canvases have work made by infants and toddlers. Inquiry, collaboration and play are essential. Additionally, a generous donation from @collagepdx allowed us to give away some mini art kits to gallery visitors.

May Blooms

Our May show was created for us by Iris G, using recycled media.  A wishing well, spring blooms and an overgrown stone cottage bring this colorful world of whimsy to life. Long-time minigallery fans may remember Iris and her work from last year too. Iris creates fun process videos on her instagram @irisitiblecrafts, if you want to learn more.

Shrimply Amazing

Bonus, one day only, show featuring a ceramic Peacock Mantis Shrimp sculpture and some needle felted reefs.  All work created by minigallery co-curator and artist, Alissa Tran.

Pint Sized Pottery

A tableau with personal items and mini ceramics from Rachael Harms-Mahlandt.  She explained a few items: moss from her wedding, stone path made agates she collected with her father when she was little, photos from a recent family hike, furniture and tableware made by Rachael herself. You may recognize this artist from her features on Hello, Rose City, her work as the PDX sidewalk joy map co-creator, or from @pdxdinorama. Check out mini pottery at www.pintsizedpottery.com

Guesthouse no. 603

A collaborative installation from local artists, Hilary( @hodge91) and Ellis (@thelavenderastronaut), for Portland Pride. As described by Hilary Nichols, "Together we birthed this (paper) Pride Pool Party in honor of our ongoing queer pride and resistance. Pools have historically been, and often still are, spaces where racism and transphobia are present threats, so we wanted to imagine a pool party where everyone is safe to experience their authentic joy. We can't forget that, unfortunately, our joy must constantly be balanced with our resistance to oppression, so in the underbelly of this scene you find a protest with an homage to Keith Haring, whose art was always centered in anti-oppression and anti-capitalism."
