Felted Fungi
A needle felting workshop taught by local artist(and neighbor), LeBrie Rich, inspired this charming display. If you want to learn more about needle felting, take a workshop, order a kit, etc, be sure to check out @Penfeltstudios. All work by Alissa Tran
Silvanus
A PNW take on the green man or Silvanus, the protector of the forest. I can't help but reflect on the forest fires, climate change, destruction and rejuvenation when I look at this ceramic bust. This piece will also be traveling to the Maryhill Museum of Art for the Artists as Educators show for the month of April. Artwork by Alissa Tran
Holli Dougan
Local artist Holli Dougan created this delightful polymer clay scene featuring some lucky(or not so lucky) breakfast cereal about to be enjoyed by a Sasquatch. Holli always puts so much expression and personality into her work. To see more, be sure to follow her @hollidougan or visit hollidougan.bigcartel.com/
Also, we will be featuring Holli again for the month of September!
Minerology
The April show features a ceramic bust with resign cast crystals and gold leaf. This piece started as a demo for one of my ceramics classes, but I dropped it while in greenware stage. I repaired it to the best of my ability but then decided to embrace the cracks and let that lead the direction of the piece. Created by Alissa Tran
Irisistable Crafts with Iris G
Iris created these little houses with upcycled materials to create a village like none other. We like imagining the inhabitants of each home and how their aesthetic might be mirrored in the decor. For more work from Iris, follow her at @iristiblecrafts or visit her etsy at www.etsy.com/shop/IristibleCrafts
Mini Queer Museum
Learn more about Queer History through this interactive Mini Museum by scanning the QR code or visiting linktr.ee/mariahsminis Mariah included items from queer athletes, musicians, authors, and icons. A great way to celebrate PRIDE is to educate yourself and others. We appreciate Mariah's attention to detail. If you want to see more follow @mariahsminithings
Cross stitch Mini Masterpieces
Katie Dearing plays clever homage to the Louvre with her cross stitch work, parquet floor and velvet ropes. Take a brief tour of some Western Art History without having to leave pdx! We're partial to Magritte's "Son of Man", but viewers are sure to enjoy them all.
Macro on a Micro Scale
A tiny coffeeshop with macro photography, created by local artist Rachael Harms Mahlandt. The chairs and floor were constructed with stir sticks and toothpicks, like one might find in a coffee shop. Rachael included all sorts of personal details like a tiny sketchbook featuring her son's work, a mini version of a book written by her friend and photographs from the arboretum in San Antonio Texas. To see more of Rachael's work follow @allmybirdfriends or her other project @pdxdinorama. You can visit her dinosaur dinorama in SE Portland near SE 78th and SE Morrison
Pumpkin Patch
The fabulous Holli Dougan returns with an other show for September. We're ready for sweater weather, leaves turning, and stomping through pumpkin patches. Holli creates delightfully expressive polymer sculptures. To learn more about her work or find links to purchase a piece of your own, check out @hollidougan
Cryptid Crossing
Our October show is all about cryptids. These legendary creatures are rarely seen, so be sure to visit so you can see a chupacabra, yeti, and loch ness monster with your own eyes. Other fun critters may appear throughout the month too. Created by Alissa Tran.
Helen Hunter
Our November show features a gorgeous shrine to the IUD and reproductive rights. We hope it will will inspire thoughtful dialogue and civic action. Please VOTE like our rights depend on it, because they do.
Kuddly Krampus
Each crocheted krampus was handmade, following a pattern from PNW fiber artist @crochetedbyrikki from her book A Crochet World of Creepy Creatures and Cryptids. This holiday season, like every season, we encourage you to support artists, small businesses and shop local! If you want to make your own Krampus, visit Powell's Books, or your local book store and pick up your own copy of the book.
