On January 21, 2010, an empty place was left in our community when we lost "Calvin," a rottweiler owned, handled and loved by Beverly Bulson, of Schenectady.
Calvin and Beverly showed many people in the Capital District how loving a well-bred and well-trained dog can be. For the public, who too often are told that certain breeds, including Rotties, are "dangerous," Calvin became their teacher. His gentle, loving manner became all they needed to experience and understand how wrong that image is. And he became their friend - a friend they looked forward to petting, to hugging, or just sharing a quiet moment together.

Calvin was bred by Tamra Boharski of Amsterdam, NY.
By the tender age of 5 months, he was already on the education circuit with his new Mom Bev, doing demonstrations with the Schenectady Dog Training Club.
As a Therapy International service dog, Calvin and Bev went on visits to schools, libraries and many other organizations, including The Terrace at Glen Eddy, The Alterra Wynwood, St. Mary's Hospital, the YWCA Women's Shelter, and Cloverpatch Day Camp.

Calvin (right) gets an early start in the world of education as he follows the lead of his buddy "Beckon" on an agility demonstration.
Calvin went to the Rainbow Bridge on January 21, 2010. He was 11 years old.
The prayers of all of us at Mohawk Valley KC go out to Bev, her family, and the many friends Calvin made over the years as they face the loss of this great ambassador.
Calvin, Blaze and Autumn have a nice visit with Miss Maddy Ann.
Calvin visits his friend George. George liked to call him "Calvin Coolidge!"
When George moved to a new facility, he asked that Calvin continue to visit him there. Being the good friend that he was, Calvin did just that.
