Absolute best hiking trail in the Bay Area, especially at spring time of year, is Berry Creek Canyon in Big Basin Redwoods State Park in the Santa Cruz Mountains. It's a 12-mile loop from the Park HQ, but taking in the three incredible waterfalls along this trail are worth the effort. It should be spectacular right now, with the rains we've been having (and will continue to have).
Other terrific waterfall hikes are the Uvas Canyon County Park
loop, just west of Morgan Hill (three small waterfalls in about 3.5 miles) and Stairstep Falls in Samuel P. Taylor State Park
in Marin. (approx 3.5-mile there-and-back, or combine with a hike to the top of Barnabe Peak for incredible views).
There are 2 Cascade Falls in Marin County, and both are really pretty. I think I like the one in Fairfax better. Devil's Well trail in Napa
Point Reyes National Seashore. The trail to Alamere Falls is closed due to storm damage, but you can hike one mile south along the beach from Wildcat Campground at low tide to get a look at this natural wonder.
Pt. Reyes: в южной части есть походная тропа - мили 3 в один конец, по дороге одно-два озерца, а в конце - водопад падает прямо на пляж. Alamere Falls. Парковка в конце дороги севернее Стинсон Бича, в конце грунтовки за Bird Station. Или самая северная часть - Mc Lures Beach. Oзеро по дороге на Alamere Falls - for swimming.
Trillium Falls trail and the Boy Scout Tree Trail in Jedediah Smith SP are probably the best redwood hikes http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=413
