ESSENTIAL QUESTIONS:

· WHY HAS THE AVERSION FROM READING GOOD BOOKS BEGUN IN THE YOUNG GENERATION THESE DAYS?

· HOW CAN THIS BE RESTORED?

· WHAT ARE THE STEPS WE TEACHERS MUST TAKE TO BRING IT ON THE TRACK?

OVERVIEW OF THE PROJECT:

Nowadays the children and the common folks are drifting away from reading. Because there are numerous novelties open before them. They wish to experience everything. And hence they run shortage of time. This gradually leads to the loss of interest in reading. But, to be very frank, reading has no substitute.

OBJECTIVES:

This project intends to collect the worth readable materials on various topics available on the net for the students up to 12th std and the teachers as the resource material that meet their need and demand of the Curriculum beyond the boundary of a country starting from class VI. It will collect eBooks on literature, story, novels, drama, articles, information, English Grammar, Science, Religion, Personality development, Competitive Exams, History, Maths, contemporary genres, and major concerns of the global issues etc from the various corners of the world available on net so as to they must feel ease at home to find wonders having gathered at one altar.

EXPECTED OUTCOME:

It is expected that this project may prove to be a boon in the hour of aversion from reading.

REQUIRED RESOURCES:

The students will be a great source to gather decipherable materials. It is expected that their efforts in this mammoth task will prove to be worth counting. Use of multimedia and internet connectivity is the key requirement. PDF Software that supports reading eBooks.

This project will help the class and the teaching community as a whole to have the various resources available at one platform related to their Curriculum. And the children across the globe can find the eBooks of their curriculum as well as of their choice.

SAFETY MEASURES:

It is worth mentioning in this context here that the use of eBooks available on the net require to fulfill the terms of use. Most of them forbade either to use them for the commercial purpose or any kind of mutilation that disfigure the content of the book. Neither of them has been intended here. It is purely for the content sake of the students and the teaching community who destine to refine the global thinking.

· Research work undertaken:

I have recently started a project/research work on Hunger. It is a global cause that has shaken the top leaders of the world. Global population is about to reach seven billion. Technology is about to reach to its utmost zenith. Availability of resources has opened the wings to fly. Yet a monster called Hunger is unconquerable in the present scenario. This is a matter of great concern. This project intends to participate in a global Narrative Competition on ThinkQuest. The work has just been initiated in association with 3 students from my school and one student, Shashi K, from KV Ujjain, MP in the month of January 2009. But because of examination schedule all are busy. After the completion of the exam the sole motto will be to carry on the task with full zeal not only to participate but also to win the competition.

As a Resource Person: I have imparted training to the entire teaching team of Don Bosco Academy,(An English Medium High School) Alirajpur, Jhabua, MP for six days continuously from 16 July 2005 to 22nd July 2005. It was like an orientation programme for them in the teaching profession.
