INEXPENSIVE ELECTRONIC PROJECTS WITH THE RASPBERRY PI ZERO

Messing about with electronics is a lot of fun, and makes a great hobby. And electronics combined with a computer takes it to a whole new level. You can do things with a computer that would be terribly difficult with electronic circuits, and you can do things with simple electronics that are difficult for a computer. Combine them and you can do some amazing things. And the best part? Thanks to the Raspberry Pi Zero it doesn't have to cost a lot! To that end here are some of my projects. They're designed for people who don't want to (or can't) spend a lot of money.

NOTE: Most of the projects contain a bit of soldering. Don't let this stop you: if you don't know how, it's easy to learn. Watch a couple of videos on YouTube, Adafruit, or SparkFun. With less than an hour's practice you should be good to go.

Use the navigation bar at the left to peruse the projects. I've attempted to make the project names self-explanatory. The files sub-page under each project contains source code and support files.

If you're wondering where to start, try the piModules project. It's a software-only project and gives step-by-step instructions for compiling kernel modules on the Pi without having to compile the whole kernel. You'll need this capability for several of the projects, so it's a good idea to master it first. After you've done that, the ps2pi project is a combination of a simple circuit and a kernel module for using a PS/2 keyboard on the Zero.

You might also want to check my blog periodically for interesting news and project progress reports.

Contact me if you have comments or can't figure something out. My gmail address is mincepi. Please be patient, I don't check it every day.
