Civil Air Patrol (Air Force)

Specs

Minimum number of team members: 3 cadets (two guards, US flagbearer)

7.1.1.1. The US flagbearer is the color guard commander and gives all commands.

Maximum number of team members: 4 cadets (two guards, US flagbearer and Civil Air Patrol flagbearer)

7.1.1. ...Color guard members should ideally be airmen and NCOs. In situations where a mission must be accomplished and Phase II cadets aren’t available, CAP cadet officers and senior members may serve on a color guard, but only as an exception.

Standard colors compliment: US and Civil Air Patrol Organizational (see above)

Uniform used: Air Force style blues, Class B or Class A with flight cover

Equipment: IAW CAPP 60-33 

7.1.1.2. The flagbearers are unarmed. The guards may use replica service rifles...

7.1.2. The preferred size for flags is 3’ by 4’, using an 8-foot pole with a silver colored spade.

When it comes to rifle drill it should be noted that CAPP 60-33 refers to TC 3-21.5, Ch 5 and App D.

7.3.1. When carrying the rifle to and from formation, if not at sling arms, the rifle is carried at the position of port arms.

7.3.2. All rifle movements will be performed at the cadence of quick time. (Quick Time as defined in CAPP 60-30 as 100 to 120 steps per minute.)

7.3.3. When flags are at the carry, guards carry rifles at right shoulder arms. Alternately, the left guard may carry the rifle at left shoulder arms.

7.3.4. Guards may perform right and left face while at port or right/left shoulder arms in order to post the colors.

7.5. Marching.

7.5.1. Marching in Line. Marching in line is the preferred formation for a color guard. When marching in line the command is Forward, MARCH. On the command MARCH all cadets will step off with their left foot in a 24 inch step. All color guard marching is done at quick time, with normal arm swing. When mark timing, feet are lifted four inches off the ground, as in normal drill.

7.5.3. Marching in Column. Marching in column is preferably only used when navigating through crowds, narrow passageways, or other space restricted areas. Guards when armed may be at order, port, right shoulder, or left shoulder arms.
