The Baptism Certificate shows date of birth as 19-11-1850, and date of baptism as 8-12-1850 in the Parish of Yass, County of Murray, abode of Burrowa. The book 'A Geographical Dictionary or Gazetteer of the Australian Colonies' by H.H. Wells 1848, describes Burrowa as thus: "In the county of King, NSW situated about 35 miles from Yass.
At the time of his marriage (12-8-1873) he was 22 years old and a miner living on the Boorowa river.
At the birth of his eldest child (Alice -22-12-1873) in Peelwood NSW he was 24 years old and was a labourer living at Boorowa. Alice was born 4 months after the marriage of her parents.
Pauline recalls: that he had already had one stroke and had decided to go to Germany to take a cure (possibly a spa treatment), but his trip was cancelled due to the outbreak of WW1.
At the time of his death (16-11-1917 aged 66) he was a hotelkeeper at Crookwell.
He is buried at the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Burrowa New South Wales

Stray Notes by Rambler
Timothy Joseph Coffey is about to give a free ball and supper to all his numerous customers and I can assure him I'll be there; for it's a long time since I had a good square meal. I am glad that Tim is not going away, for we cannot afford to lose his sort. There are lots in Crookwell and district that could go and nobody would miss them, and in fact we would be well rid of them, but men like mine host of the Criterion are the right some of men for a town - liberal, straight and enterprising.
Dear Tim I'm glad you're going to stop
in Crookwell, along with your friends,
you'll see you'll see how they turn up at your hop;
There's many a one drinks but ne'er spends.
You've won the goodwill of all classes
By your straight dealing ways, as I know,
And if I were good I would say forty masses
That the turf o'er your body ne'er grows.

Obituary
Coffey
On Friday night last there died one of the most widely known and respected citizens of the district in the person of Mr. Timothy Joseph Coffey, the Commercial Hotel Crookwell the age of 66 years. Deceased has been practically invalided for the past 4 months and the end was not unexpected. He was a native of Burrowa and during his lifetime held the following hotels - Grabben Gullen, Tuena, Great Western Cowra, Rye Park Royal, Criterion and Commercial Crookwell. As a publican he was always most popular, a supporter of all sporting matters and liberal handed in all matters. He had the Commercial Hotel for the past 14 years.
He leaves a widow, three sons Messrs Stanton, William and Emmett of Crookwell and one daughter Mrs F.P. Ewen, Crookwell.
The remains were conveyed to his native place, Burrowa and interred there on Sunday. The Rev Father Sheehan officiated at the graveside.
The funeral was very largely attended by friends to pay their last respects to an esteemed personality.
