Don Brewer – A 1973 graduate of Wiscasset High School where he was a three sport athlete in soccer, basketball and baseball. In soccer he was the goalkeeper, captain of the team and won MVP awards. In basketball his team won the Western Maine Class D Championship in 1972 & 73. Don was the recipient of the John Messina Trophy for Most Outstanding Player in the tournament. In baseball he was a pitcher, catcher and infielder, while serving as captain and winning the Most Improved and MVP awards. Don went on to college at the University of Maine/ Farmington where he was a member of the 1973-76 mens’ soccer team as the goalkeeper. His team made the NAIA Playoffs while he was goalkeeping. Don was also a member of the 1974-77 Farmington Baseball Team as a catcher & third baseman. He served as captain and his team also made the NAIA Playoffs. Don also served as the statistician & timekeeper for the Beaver mens’ basketball team. After receiving his Master’s Degree from Springfield College in 1980, Don became a very accomplished sports official in soccer and basketball. In soccer he officiated at both the high school and college level. Doing many State Tournament and State Championship Games, as well as Division 1 & 3 college games, In basketball, Don was a top official for IAABO Boards #’s 20 & 21, officiating numerous Regional & State Final Games. He served as President of Maine Board #20, also officiating Maine Small College games.
Rachel Coor – Rachel attended Medomak Valley High School and has been a driving force in cheerleading training and coaching in the midcoast area for many years .She started her coaching career at Rockland District High School in 1997. Her teams won KVAC Class B Championships from 1997 – 2004, Eastern Maine Class B Champions in 2003 & 2004, State Class B Champions in 2003 and KVAC Coach of the Year in 2002 & 2003. Rachel went on to coach at Mullen HS in Denver, Colorado from 2004-2007, where her teams won the Centennial League Championship in 2007 and the State Class 4A Championship in 2005 & 2007. Rachel returned to Maine in 2008 to coach at Medomak Valley HS, where her teams have won 9 KVAC Championships, Southern Maine Class B Champions from 2010- 2022, State Class B Champions in 2022 and she has been voted KVAC Coach of the Year twice. Rachel was also voted Maine Cheerleading Association Coach of the Year in 2014. Rachel is the current coach at Oceanside HS and owns the Midcoast Athletics Center in Warren. She also oversees the MAC Storm Cheer & Tumbling program, which trains athletes yearround, preparing them to compete at the highest levels in New England and National competitions.
Tom Fifield (Posthumous) – Tom was a 1988 graduate of Camden- Rockport High School where he lettered in soccer, basketball and baseball as a freshman. Tom’s outstanding sport was basketball where he became one of the first 1,000 point scorers in Camden-Rockport history. Tom earned his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Maine/Farmington in 1994. Tom’s love of sports continued after graduation from college, coaching at the AAU, high school and college levels in basketball and baseball. Tom later became involved in sports officiating, becoming a very accomplished basketball official and baseball umpire. He officiated numerous Regional and State Final high school games in both sports and was a college baseball umpire. Tom was most proud of his time serving as an umpire for Portland Sea Dogs games. Tom was taken from us way too early ,at the age of 48, due to a heart attack.
Frank McGrady – A 1979 graduate of Medomak Valley HS where he lettered in soccer, basketball and baseball. Frank was a standout for the Medomak Valley basketball team that won the State B Championship in 1977, Western Maine Runner-ups in 1978 and Regional Champions and State Runner-ups in 1979. In 1979, Frank was voted MVP of the Western Maine Tournament, scoring 30 points in the final game while holding Kennebunk’s top scorer to 12 points. He was also voted 2 nd Team All State. Frank went on to college at the University of Maine/Machias, where he played college basketball from 1981-84. He scored 1,400 points during his college career, setting a State Record with 69 points in one game. Frank was voted NAC All Conference 3 years, Team MVP 3 years, 2 nd Team All State
Dean Shea (Posthumous) - Dean was a standout athlete at Wiscasset HS, graduating in 1958. He received 15 varsity letters while in school in cross country, basketball, baseball and track & Field. He was a 5 time State Champion in cross country and Track & Field, with his team winning the 1958 Class D State Championship in track & field. Dean was also a member of the Bath American Legion Baseball Team that won the State Championship in 1957. Dean went on to Colby College where he played varsity Baseball and Freshman Basketball. After graduation from college Dean taught and coached at Dexter Regional HS and Foxcroft Academy, before finishing his career with 25 years at Schenck High School in East Millinocket. At Schenck he coached cross country, baseball, JV & varsity basketball and varsity baseball. As baseball coach he would bring his team South many years to play Wiscasset & Boothbay in pre-season games. While at Dexter, Dean played semi-pro baseball for the Guilford Merchants, who won the State Championship in 1968.
Katie Sibley – A 2003 graduate of Boothbay Region HS where she was a standout basketball player for the Seahawks. Katie set records in each of her 4 years at Boothbay. As a freshman she was voted 1 st Team all Mountain Valley Conference and Team MVP. She achieved 1 st Team All Mountain Valley Conference all 4 years, was voted 2nd Team All State in 2003 and set a Western Maine Class C scoring record of 45 points in one game. Her 1,444 points scored makes her the All Time leading scorer in Boothbay Region history. Katie went on to the University of Southern Maine where she continued her prowess on the basketball court. Her teams captured 4 consecutive Little East Conference Championships, advancing to the NCAA Division 3 National Championship Tournament in each of those years. She played in 116 games for the Huskies, leading them to a remarkable 119 – 10 overall record, 55-1 in the Little East Conference. Katie was inducted into the USM Hall of Fame in 2015.
William Tompkins – A 1969 graduate of Boothbay Region HS where he lettered in football, basketball and baseball, was President of the National Honor Society and Valedictorian of his class. After high school, William went on to Springfield College where he earned a degree in physical education in 1973. After graduation from college, he was hired at Walpole High School in Massachusetts. William coached varsity baseball at Walpole for 38 years and was also the first girls’ soccer coach there, a position he held for 21 years. He is most noted for his baseball coaching career at Walpole, accumulating a record of 561 wins versus 264 losses. His teams have one pieces of 15 Bay State League titles, 2 MIAA Division 1 South Sectional Championships in 1996 and 2005 and one trip to the State Title game in 1994. He also coached the Walpole American Legion Team that won a State Title in 1994. In 2005 he was inducted into the Massachusetts High School Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame. William has served as the Athletic Director at Walpole and is proud of having coached so many players over the years, helping to round them into hard working, committed, successful young adults.
Dana Verrill – An accomplished athlete, and 1968 graduate at Rockland District High School, as a varsity letter winner in football, basketball and baseball. He was also team captain of all three teams and President of his class. After graduation from high school Dana went on to Bowdoin College, where he was a member of the varsity football team. It was at Bowdoin that Dana established himself as an outstanding defensive back. He set school records for most interceptions in a season (8) and in a career (16). In 1970 he was third in the Nation in interceptions, leading the Polar Bears to a 6-1 record. His teams won the CBB Championship all the years that he played. Dana also served as punt returner, kick-off defender and field goal and extra point holder. In 2018 Dana was inducted into the Bowdoin College Athletic Hall of Honor.
