All inductees are recognized at the banquet and then have plaques placed in their honor

in the Exhibit Hall at the Midcoast Sports Hall of Fame in Waldoboro.

Maxine Drinkwater Simmons

Maxine Drinkwater Simmons was one of the finest athletes to ever graduate from Camden High School. She went on to play in the Women's Professional Baseball League for the South Bend, Indiana Blue Sox. After returning to Camden, she has spent many years coaching the youth of the local area. Several years ago, she and several others who participated in the Women's Baseball League were inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame and recently she was inducted into the Maine Baseball Hall of Fame.

Alena Starrett

(*) Alena Starrett earned the Guy GannetPublishing Company Gold Press Card for the best sport coverage in Maine. She covered all sporting events in the Midcoast area well into her 70's and was well known and respected the athletes and coaches she covered so thoroughly.

Clyde Sukeforth

(*) Clyde Sukeforth spent 48 years involved with professional baseball including 10 as a player for the Cincinnati Reds and the Brooklyn Dodgers, and 38 more as a coach-manager-scout. He was instrumental in signing legends Jackie Robinson and Roberto Clemente, two Hall of Famers to their first contract in the Major Leagues.

Charlie Wotton

(*) Charlie Wotton was an excellent high school and college athlete before becoming a premiere official in basketball, baseball and football with around 2,200 games to his credit that included high school, college, and professional games. He became Maine's first Basketball Commissioner and served in that position for 20 years. He was known as Mr. Basketball and brought "integrity" to the game.

Bob Hillgrove

Bob Hillgrove is one of Maine's most accomplished distance runners and in his early 60's still continues a running career that spans more than 50 years. He has competed against some of the world's most respected and talented runners, including Olympians Frank Shorter and Steve PreFontaine.

Peter Hodgkins

Peter Hodgkins has had a storied career in all aspects of golf, from teaching the game to coaching to course management to playing. Now in his tenth year as Pro at Northport Golf Club, Hodgkins continues to be a rare breed of PGA Pro, being both a teaching professional and course superintendent. He was elected to the Maine Golf Hall of Fame in 2006.

Sam Pendleton

Sam Pendleton has 40 years experience on the sideline. He is known as "Mr. Bus Soccer". He continues to be one of the most respected and beloved high school coaches in state history. And has been recognized at many levels for his contributions to children and the game. Sam has won every state championship came his team's have played in (seven), and is a former Maine high school boys soccer Coach of the Year.

Helen Plourd

Helen Plourd has been one of the Maine''s finest female golfers for more than 50 years. A remarkable all-around athlete in her youth, she has been a leader among Maine amateur golfers. Helen won 20 straight Women's Championships at Rockland Golf Club, as well as capturing many RGC Women's President Cups, Leah Robinson Two Ball Cups, Couples Championships, Parent-Child Championships and Senior Championships, and 3 Knox County Women's Amateur Championships. She finished among the top 5 gross averages for the Maine State Women's Golf Association for 45 years, has been state senior champion and runner up, semifinalist in state match play and a top 10 finalist for state medal play. She finished among the top 20 in the New England Women's Golf championships 15 times and has been a member of Maine's tri-state team for more than 45 years.
