I just recently made this fully dimensional sign for my upcoming YouTube channel. The sign blank is constructed from 1/2" MDF. Using stencils that I created with my vinyl cutter, I cut the white letters, the red box, and the black letters from more 1/2" MDF by hand using my band-saw. The head silhouette was cut, painted and layered using 3 layers of 1/4" Baltic birch plywood. I created a inset beveled rear frame to mount the RGBW-LED strip light, which casts a short wash on the faux brick panels to add some shadow and depth to the studio background wall.
This sign was created from a fresh and clean 3/4" pine board that was then distressed to add some old farmhouse character. It was then stained with a walnut stain to provide the rich dark base. I designed and cut vinyl stencils to aid in painting the white background and black letters with acrylic paints.
Starting with a 1" thick white Aspen Pine blank, I engraved the upper and lower text with a Komo CNC router. I then constructed the BEER logo and wall mounts from 1" black gas pipe. This was a house warming gift for a friend. It was well received, and is now on display in his home brewery.
Fun fact. (Goose Island brews one of his recipes)
This creation started with (1) single reclaimed pine pallet board. The board was cut into three lengths. I then distressed the ends of boards and assembled the sign blank. I stained it with a custom watered down gray acrylic paint to give the boards a thoroughly weathered and oxidized look. Next I sanded some of the stain off to highlight the rough sawn texture of the boards. Again I created a vinyl mask to paint the lettering with acrylic paint.
This sign started life as part of a used Fitzgerald Distillery whisky barrel. The Fitzgerald's are actually close friends with the Cristante's, So it has a special place in their hearts as well as their home.
This large sign blank was constructed from reclaimed pallet wood. Once the sign blank was built, it was lightly distressed before staining with a dark stain. I then masked the sign blank with two vinyl stencils and painted the lettering with blue and white acrylic paints.
Another client was looking for a family room sign but had no idea what design they were after. After seeing THE BIG-"G" sign they fell in love with the look of it. They wanted to make a few minor changes but the construction and finish methods were very similar to THE BIG-"G".
Sometimes you just NEED a simple sign to fill a purpose. This sign has a simple coroplast base with 3 colors of vinyl applied. light, cheep, fast, and it gets the message across for those who read and hopefully those who don't.
In an attempt to make the most of the current situation. This sign was made as a fun idea to participate in our neighborhoods 2020 trick-or-treat. While doing our part in remaining socially distant to reduce the spread, it was a big hit with the neighbors. And it delivered treats to over 70 kids.
The double sided light box is built out of 1/2" birch plywood. The frame is finished with a Minwax Cappuccino stain and an exterior grade polyurethane. It features remotely controlled internal RGBW-LED lighting, and interchangeable frosted coro-plast sign blanks with applied vinyl lettering, so it can be replaced and or reused for any future occasion.
