Shortly after we moved into our new home it was time to get started on home improvement projects. This one came first. I dismantled, sanded and repainted the mailbox. Then I pulled out the old mailbox post and made a new one from 4x4 lumber. I finished it with a few coats of sealer and reinstalled the mailbox. Nine years later, it still looks brand new.
My wife had this dresser set since she was just a young child, so they had a special place in her heart. But they had seen better days and were due for an update. The cabinet box and drawers were simply sanded and repainted. However she really wanted natural wood finished tops. After stripping one tops I discovered that they were actually laminated MDF. So the tops had to be replaced. I made new tops from 1-1/2"x 5" solid ash planks that I biscuit jointed together. I then finished them with a Cappuccino stain, and a satin polyurethane. I also updated the hardware antique bronze drawer pulls to complete the look.
