Our Staff

Tina Gray - Preschool Manager

Tina has spent over 10 years working in childcare in various positions within nursery settings as well as owning her own business as a childminder. Tina has an NVQ Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People's Workforce and her previous role saw her as a room leader within an early years setting. Tina has been managing Mere Preschool since September 2016 and works closely with fellow staff members, parents and the committee for reflection and improvements of the Preschool.

Nikki Strong - Deputy Manager & SENCo

Nikki joined us in February 2017 and has continued to flourish. She has brought a wealth of knowledge and from 2018 took on the role of SENCo, supporting any child that may need some extra help. This is an area that she is passionate about and we are thrilled with her progress in this new role. Nikki is level 3 qualified and also works as a key person.

Leah Tealey - Room Leader

Leah is an NVQ Level 3 Childcare qualified early years practitioner, but more than this she has a wonderful rapport with the children and promotes child centred activities. Her calm nature and drive to be involved means she is engaged with the children during activities. Leah is also deputy safeguarding lead as her experience at the preschool and her ability to be approachable to the children means she is a great support in this role.

Sandy Sams - Lunchtime Supervisor

Sandy is our longest standing staff member at Mere Preschool, spanning over 15 years. She has seen the preschool develop from a playgroup into a preschool and has worked in various roles in support of the preschool. She is now our lunchtime supervisor, assisting the rest of the team with morning snack and lunchtime preparations.

Helena Newstead - Early Years Practitioner

Helena came to us on a placement and never left, which we are delighted about. Nicknamed 'the baby whisperer' she has a calming essence, especially with our youngest children and is able to sooth them should they get upset. Helena is level 2 qualified and is working towards her level 3.

Natalie Harrison - Early Years Practitioner

Natalie joined us, initially as a bank staff member and is now a permanent member of the team. Having seen both her children attend our preschool, and previously worked in early years, we feel lucky to have her on the team. She is Level 3 qualified as well as holding a level 2 qualification in Forest Schooling to support our outside forest school activities.

Shellie Brundish - Early Years Practitioner

Shellie joined us in September 2018 and works as a one to one key worker with children who require additional support. Shellie's quiet and calm nature makes her perfect for her role. She is level 3 qualified and has a passion for everything SEN related and has been a wonderful addition to the team.

Jamie Cox - Early Years Practitioner

Jamie joined us in October 2018 and works as a one to one key worker, offering support to children with additional needs. Jamie has shown to be a great asset through her bubbly and fun personality. Jamie has a lot of experience with working with individuals as a one to one so we know she can bring a lot to her role and we look forward to watching her flourish.
