The presentation of the MEDFIRE model

The article published in the journal PLoS ONE by ECO-LAND members lab, in collaboration with Andrew Fall and Marie-Josée Fortin, presents the landscape spatially explicit MEDFIRE model following the ODD protocol as well as the methods applied to calibrate and validate the model for Catalonia (north-eastern Spain). The sub-models algorithms and the initialization of the spatial and non-spatial inputs are detailed in the on-line appendixes.

The study uses the MEDFIRE model to investigate the effect of fire suppression strategies in synergy with climate change on the fire regime.

The work has mainly done in the context of the MONTES project.
