Graduate Admission Agreement
to the Texas Tech University
Internship and Traditional Physics MS Degree
upon successful completion of a McMurry
Texas Tech University has agreed to
guarantee physics students at McMurry University graduate admission into
the Texas Tech University M.S. degree programs in physics,
provided certain criteria are met by the student. The degree options
to the qualifying student include Traditional
M.S. Physics, M.S. in Applied Physics, and M.S.
in Applied Physics with Internship. Students not meeting the
outlined below are also encouraged to apply, admission will be on a
basis. The necessary criteria for guaranteed admission to these options
are outlined as follows.
Student must receive, by the time of enrollment at Texas Tech
a B.S. in Physics from McMurry University.
Course work must include the following with a letter grade of at least
Electricity and Magnetism (1 semester minimum) - Physics 4310
Quantum Mechanics (1 semester minimum) - Physics 4330
For students applying to the M.S. in Applied Physics with Internship in
the semiconductor industry, students are required to take the following
courses, earning a letter grade of at least a B:
Solid State Physics - Physics 4385
Electronics - Physics 3350
Minimum overall GPA of 3.00/4.00
Minimum GPA in intermediate and advanced physics courses (course number
3000 and greater) of 3.25/4.00.
Meet all the requirements of the Texas Tech Graduate School.
File completed applications with the Texas Tech Graduate School and
Department (separate applications) prior to March 1 for Fall admission
in the same year, October 1 for January admission in the following
