Introduction

Tremendously versatile Poser/Daz compatible Morphing Props to create gears or anuthing toothy or even hexagonal nuts

History

November 23rd 2014 10pm Release

Installation

Unzip the file found at the bottom of this page into your daz studio content folder
typically :
c:\program files\daz\studio\content\
or
C:\Users\YOURNAME\Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My Library
once installed the prop will appear in your library under

content/props/mcasual/
Gearz
or
My Library/Props/mCasual/
Gearz

Note that the "Gearz" folder is subdivided in 3 sections
more "slices" = better teeth definition

note that you could move the props ( *.pp2) and associated thumbnails (*.png)
elsewhere as long as the geometry files (.obj) remain in their Geometries folder

Use

if you look in the prop's parameters tab you'll see a whole lot of morphs

most of the time you can leave them alone.

Instead learn to use the master controls found in the

"Gears", "Expanders" and "Levels" sections ( groups )

Theres also the "Sides" and "Corners"  sections, but you'll probably use those less often

"Corners" and "Sides" are residue from the genesis of this prop, which started as a "plate" with a center "hole"
so you can use those to fashion your gear into a bizarre square plate with rounded corners

Notably : The Gears Group lets you configure the gear as a spur, crown or ring gear with just 1 slider

The "Int" slider of the "Expanders" Group lets you change the center hole radius

There's "Up" sliders in the "Levels" section to make the gear thicker or thinner

---

If you want to fine tune the shape of the teeth, look for the morph channels named "Teeth"

each tooth is composed of 4, 8 or 16 "slices" if you change the "Len" or length of a slice

the length of that slice for the gear's 32 teeth change. Use the "Rot" or rotate to move the slices sideways.
