FlightMaster

Flightmaster was developed by Mike Busch in the USA for the PSION Organiser II. Mike had looked around at other handheld devices like the pocket calculators from Hewlett-Packard and Texas Instruments but as disappointed to learn of their inadequate storage capacity. Of course the Organiser II with two of the then massive 128K datapaks was ideal. He considered the differences between the XP and LZ models and found that character size of the LZ to be too small for good legibility in the cockpit environment, so he didn't use it. An early difficulty he encountered was getting, converting and compressing "The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration" and "The Federal Aviation Administration" flight databases to fit on the 128K datapaks. Once successful the FlightMaster system sold extensively in the USA.
