The Getting to Year Two Conference is a half-day conference designed for first year students to have a chance to learn about a range of campus options in the coming year. There are keynote speakers, breakout sessions with professionals from around campus, and a resource fair where students can ask more specific questions.
The conference took place in February 2013 and was preceded by regular planning meetings beginning in November 2012.
I was a member of the conference planning committee, which consisted of both upper division students involved with the university's Transitional Experiences Council and professionals from the following offices:
The planning committee was responsible for developing the structure of the conference and developing sessions that would be most beneficial to the audience and managing logistics on the afternoon of the conference.
