My first speaker build (karlson horn)
In my student time (long time ago) I made a Karlson horn.
The aim was to make a powerfull speaker with my limited student budget.
To avoid having to spend a lot of money on a DIY amp, the speaker needed to be very efficient,
hence the choice for a Karlson horn.
I bought the drivers on a public sale of a guitar amp manufacturer that went broke,
so the RCF 15' driver and heavy horn tweeter were fairly cheap.
At that time, I did not know about driver parameters or anything, so I put it all together
based on the Karlson horn plans I had and with the drivers I had available at a cheap price.
The result was a big box that was able to provide loud music for the entire neighbourhood,
using a fairly small amp.
After a few years, I sold the beast to a DJ, in order to get the money for a DIY computer project
I used for my thesis/graduation work.
This is how a Karlson horn looks like (not the one I built back then, just a few pictures I found on the internet
to show how a Karlson horn looks)
